The old days of needing keys to get into your home are past. I have installed 2 keypad locks in my home in the past few years and love them. I can create separate codes for everyone I need to have access to my house and disable them when needed. But the real beauty with these locks is no longer having to dig for the right key to get into my house or worry that I have locked myself or someone else out of my home. No more keys under mats or potted plants found easily by the local robbers.
Schlage has stepped up the game a few notches beyond my own locks. With my system I only have 6 buttons to choose from and the bolt is controlled by a motor. This has become a problem a few times over the years when the batteries get weak and the bolt won’t lock or open. Schlage has a manual turn knob on both sides that give the user complete control, thus not draining the batteries nearly as quickly. They also have added a lighted keypad so I can actually see what I am doing. Couple those advantages with the slick metal finish and you have a good looking lock that is a real time and life saver.
The real advantage of these easy to install locks is if you have children. No more lost keys, no more “I’m locked out,” phone calls. I have a teenage and he frequently forgets his phone, wallet and other items. But I know he can always get back into the house safely. When I go on vacation and need someone to check on my dog its easy as pie for them to get in and lock up when they leave.
ANSI grading on this lock is 2 which is the highest level for residential use.
