If you are like me you spend a lot of time Making compound miter cuts and regular miter cuts with your saw. I currently have a 12″ compound miter saw by Rigid which I like, but the problem is it can only make cuts about 8″ long when it is straight. I then have to flip
the board over and make another cut. Rarely do the two sides line up perfectly. So I end up sanding down the extra material trying to get a clean smooth edge. It also only always for a bevel one way. So I am frequently having to cut my trim upside down, all of which can get confusing. This Bosch 5312 miter saw solves my problems.
Another huge feature that I like about this saw is the bevel settings are front and center on the main lever. With my Rigid I have to reach around back and manually adjust a large knob, while guessing where my correct angle is located. This saw also has a raised angle guide that is engraved into the base, no worries about it coming off or becoming unreadable.
If you are new the compound saw market you may need to have a better understanding of what the terminology means. Miter is a simple saw cut that cuts straight up and down but can be at any number of angles, such as a 45 degree cut to make a simple corner. The compound comes into play if you need to cut at a random degree angle horizontally and at some other angle vertically. This is frequently done to cut crown molding with a flat setting. If you add a dual compound angle like this Bosch miter saw does you can rotate the saw on axis left and right instead of just right like most standard saws do. Finally adding in the the sliding rails the saw can now cut much wider wood including a 1×12.
If you are debating between a 10″ and 12″ saw I highly recommend the 12″. You can cut so much deeper with a 12″ This saw will easily cut 4″ thick stock and switch over to crown in no time flat. This is definitely the saw for me.

Other Bosch 5312 Miter Saw reviews:
The Bosch 5312 12-Inch Dual Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw has received great reviews from other people.
“‘After quite a bit of time working with this saw professionally, I have found it to be the most accurate, durable, fast to use, and easy to carry of the multitude I’ve come in contact with on the job site. ”
“Within the first couple of cuts on the Bosch, I realized that I didn’t need the diagram for the corners. For many reasons, the Bosch is much more intuitive and all the necessary angles for cutting corners are very clearly marked and many have ‘stops’ for truly accurate angles. I haven’t owned the saw very long, but I’d say that I’ve made at least 40 inside and outside corners w/o a single backward or upside down cut and w/much less aggravation and thought. A very different experience than w/the Makita. ”
” This saw cuts accurately, and the regular stops are consistent, so I haven’t had concerns about good cuts while putting up my crown moulding. One thing, which is minor, is that the tick marks denoting the degrees are a bit thick, and when trying to set up for 31.8 degrees, for example, one has to estimate a little bit. But it always works well enough for me.
