One of the most annoying aspects of installing trim and doing other small carpentry jobs is hauling that big heavy 40 lbs compressor around, setting it up and then listening to the jarring sounds while it fires up for 5 minutes. Dewalt’s D55140 has solved those problems
by creating a great reliable, light and quiet compressor that will help get the trim job done fast and without breaking your back in the process.
I love how quiet the unit is compared to my other Porter Cable Pancake compressor. It is also very compact and easy to carry. At 24 lbs its light and durable with sold iron construction. The motor uses under 3 amps so you never have to worry about it not starting or tripping a breaker every time it fires up. This is a great personal use compressor for those smaller jobs.

Any Complaints about the DEWALT D55140 1-Gallon 135 PSI Max Trim Compressor ?
Several people have complained that the regulator knob area leaks when they buy the compressor. Dewalts website has the fix, I would assume these individuals did not properly break in the unit prior to using it.
Air leaking from where the tube connects is not due to the pressure switch. The area in question is a pressure relief valve and it is there to remove any pressure left in the lines between the pump and the tank when the unit stops. If air is constantly flowing from this area, the problem is actually the check valve. It is not sealing the pressure in the tank and the air flow is heading back in the lines and coming out the relief valve.
Clean or replace the check valve and run the compressor break-in procedure to seat the valve. Refer to your instruction manual or break-in procedure for the break-in procedure.
